Sailing boats offer dynamic navigation. They are agile, easy to manoeuvre, and fast. When going through bad weather they are easier to handle. Without a doubt, they allow you to fully enjoy the sensation of sailing. The cost per person is low and they occupy less space in port, resulting in a lower mooring cost as well.
Catamarans offer a deck with a lot of space as well as large saloon situated at the same level. The mesh, located at the front of the boat, makes an ideal and relaxing solarium. Catamarans also have less draft (the underwater part of the ship) so you can get closer to the beach or coast.
Motorboats can reach high speeds so you can shorten the time spent crossing. Their shallow drafts allow them to nearly reach the shore. They usually don’t have many cabins but they are very comfortable and fully equipped. On the other hand they are more expensive and consume much more fuel.
Gulets are large sailing boats, usually made of wood and having a classic build. They have large and spacious decks. These features allow them to accommodate more guests in large and comfortable cabins. The price per person is affordable in relation to a boat of this size and degree of luxury.
If you want to rent a boat on a day-by-day basis, the maximum number of passengers will be the maximum legal capacity of the boat, not the capacity of the cabins. For example, a boat that has 3 cabins and a convertible saloon can accommodate only eight people sleeping overnight, but perhaps 10 to 12 people sailing day-by-day.
If you do not hold a sailing certification or do not have the right one for the length of boat you want to charter, you will need a skipper to sail the boat. Choose whether the skipper will sleep in the saloon or in a cabin. There are individual “skipper” cabins in some boat models.
Choose the number of passengers, not including the skipper.
Choose a date to go sailing. Boats are usually chartered by the week from Saturday to Saturday, except in low season, when you can also choose single days.
