Beaches and coves

Cala Macarella

This cove (Cala means cove), along with Turqueta, is one of the most well known in Menorca. It has marvellous views, calm blue waters thanks to the tall cliffs that surround them, covered in leafy pines. All in all, this special and natural environment is best explored from the water, however, there is a somewhat untrodden path for getting there by land.

Cala Turqueta

This cove is very close to Macarella and is very similar to Cala Macarella. Turqueta is a postcard destination you should not leave off your list. Ideally you should visit both, which is easily done if you charter a yacht in Menorca.

Cala Galdana

This cove is found to the south of Menorca. It also has a family friendly atmosphere and has a crystal clear piece of ocean, perfect for swimming in. It has white sand and an abundance of vegetation. In this cove you will be able to practice a number of water sports, such as kayaking or riding pedalos and if you decide to spend a little time on the beach, you can also have a go at paragliding.

Cala Mitjana

Close to Galdana, you will find this cove to be untouched and typically Menorcan. From your boat you will be able to enjoy beautiful views surrounded by vegetation. However, if what you search is a more exclusive space then this beach is the place for you as it is one of Menorca’s best beaches with much less people and much calmer sea.

Cala Pregonda

This cove is very different from the rest due to its red colour and a surrounding that makes the people on it feel as though they are on the surface of Mars. The contrast is accompanied by extremely calm waters and this cove is best accessed by boat as it is a long distance from anywhere by foot.

Natural Parks

Cabrera Archipelago:

Located south of Menorca, this park has both land and marine zones. It was declared a national park in 1991, and is known for its marina.

s'Albufera des Grau:

Located near Mahón, is the most important park in Menorca. This place has a variety of landscapes, each with a different degree of human intervention, such as wetlands, agricultural land, forests, and characteristic coasts.

Sa Dragonera:

Formed by Pantaleu and Mitjana islets and the island of Sa Dragonera, this natural park has 274 hectares of stunning land, characterized by its spectacular number of species on both land and in the sea.

Gastronomy

Menorca’s gastronomy was born from the contributions of the different civilizations that throughout the centuries have lived on the island. Making this cuisine full of surprises and contrasts, mirroring Menorca’s landscape. Menorca contributed to the world culinary establishment with mayonnaise, and in turn has known to adapt elements of other cuisines into its own. The medieval gastronomies, both Islamic and Catalan as well as the French, are the ones that left the biggest legacy to the recipes that have made Menorca famous.
