Portugal has generally good weather conditions, the south of the country being warmer and less rainy than the south. The summers are quite hot and the winters relatively balmy, which is very appropriate for sailing trips. The average winter temperature is around 13ºC, but the winds and tides are strong due to the Atlantic Ocean; the average summer temperatures range around 20ºC.

The Atlantic Ocean usually has lower water temperatures than the Mediterranean Sea. Temperatures can vary from anywhere between 4ºC in winter and up to 22ºC in summer. Due to the higher water temperatures, spring and summer is the most suitable time for watersport activities.
